This program

To offer tools, from an interdisciplinary perspective, to those who work or wish to work in the defense, promotion, education and research of human rights, with an emphasis on democratic and citizen participation.

Intended for graduates of different academic disciplines, electoral officials, political party leaders, leaders of community and youth organizations, local and state public officials, and educators, who work or wish to work in the defense, promotion, education or research of human rights, in both public institutions and civil society.

Course content

  • Fundamentals and historical development of human rights
  • International human rights law and domestic law
  • Human rights protection systems
  • Introduction to distance learning
  • State, society, the common good, and human rights
  • Human rights and democracy
  • The right to participation
  • Determinants for the exercise of participation

Elective:
  • Right to the freedom of expression, information and participation
  • Reform of the state and political reform
  • The environment and human rights

By the end of the program

Participants will be capable of:
  • Working with the fundamental aspects of human rights doctrine and international human rights law.
  • Applying national and international norms that protect the rights associated with Participation, Citizenship and Human Rights in their professional activities.
  • Analyzing the contextual elements that affect the proper enforcement of the right to Participation, Citizenship and Human Rights, and identifying alternatives for administering this right more effectively.
